Teams of police, assisted by police drug dogs, executed drug search warrants at six addresses on Russell Island on 9th November, following a lengthy drug intelligence gathering operation by local police during the last 12 months.
As a result seven persons have been charged with a variety of drug offences ranging from cultivation, possess for supply, possess drugs namely cannabis and amphetamines; possess utensils and possess property suspected of being proceeds of criminal activity.
At one of the addresses an underground bunker was located.
These raids followed on from raids in August where persons were charged with drug trafficking, supply and possession of cannabis and ecstasy tablets.
Local police advise that this operation is ongoing and further persons have been identified and will be targeted at a later date.
Persons who deal drugs to children on the island are not wanted and police will continue to treat such supply as an enforcement priority from The Bay of Islands.
I wonder when they will check Tim's drop off point at South West Rocks???
